Midletsoft is a technology leading application platform provider in the rapidly growing
Point
Server industry. Centered on the ever popular and rapidly emerging Bluetooth wireless technology,
Midletsoft's Jellingspot
Data Server is a leading solution for proximity content distribution.
Midletsoft HQ is located near Seattle, Washington (USA) with R&D personal located in Prague, Czech Republic. Midletsoft was founded in September 2001
History
Originally established as a pure Java 2 Micro-Edition application developer and porting specialist from WAP to
Java (hence the name midlet-soft) for GSM carriers, Midletsoft quickly jumped out of the wireless starter’s blocks
with the launch of its own Mercury Global Messenger (originally Mercury Instant Messenger), an instant messaging
client for MIDP 1.0 enabled devices based on Jabber’s open framework. This
application, launched in October 2001, quickly became the most popular and most downloaded J2ME based instant
messenger on many of the industry’s leading J2ME freeware sites. Soon after, Mercury Global Messenger for Nokia’s
9210/9290 smart phone followed, and quickly became a best selling item on the world’s largest internet based
wireless software reseller, Handango.
However, despite its quick success, this was not the industry Midletsoft had early on set its sights on. After an
intensive development campaign, in December 2002 Midletsoft launched itself into the point servers industry with its
proto-type Jellingspot Data Server. August 2003 saw the first live
pilot implementation of Jellingspot Data Server in the world,
at pietro
filipi, an international Czech fashion retailer.
The rest is history in the making ...
